We built Parlabase to serve churches that have diverse congregations and need to translate an English-language service into other languages. Our software will work on any modern smartphone or laptop that can browse the web, so there is no app to install or complicated setup. It’s really easy to use, and you can see how it works below. Accuracy varies by language, so check how well yours is supported.

Joining a service? Enter your session code

How it works

Members of the congregation browse to the Parlabase website and enter the code for the session, or scan the QR code to make this quicker. They choose the language they feel most comfortable with and follow along with the service, as the speech from the front is translated into their language and appears moments after each sentence is spoken.

    Connect your audio

    Plug in your mic, mixer or existing audio feed.

  2. 02

    Create a session

    Set up a session for your service on your laptop.

  3. 03

    Share the QR code

    Share the session code, a link or the QR code so your congregation can join.

  4. 04

    Go live

    Press Go live and keep the laptop awake with the lid open, as the broadcast stops if it sleeps. Check it has enough battery for the service, and plug it in if it needs it. Pause at any time to save cost and then end the session when done.

Learn how to host your first session

How a host runs a session. On a laptop they connect the audio (a mixing desk, then a microphone), create the session, share its QR code, then start it. On a phone they create the session, share its QR code and start it, with the phone set down on a lectern as the microphone. The session shows live, and pauses itself when no one is listening.     Join the session

    We supply a QR Code to make this easy, but you can use a link or do it manually by entering the session code at parlabase.com/join.

    Choose a language

    Pick the language you want to translate to.

  3. 03

    Follow in realtime

    Live translated text streams to your phone or tablet as the speaker talks. Parlabase asks your device to keep the screen on while you read, so try not to lock it.
